Green bins are crucial for reducing the amount of organic waste that gets sent to landfills but they can create nasty smells, especially during the warm summer months. However, a trade-off between being green and not having the smell is not necessary. There are products that will control the smell of your green bin so you and your family can stay green.
One of these products is the Waste Management Odour Disposer, which has been developed locally in Oakville. Oakville based SciCorp International partnered with North America’s largest waste company and can now provide a larger market with a green product that will make it easier for residents to separate their organic waste.
The Waste Management Odour Disposer is a green, plant based product that actually works to dispose odours, rather than covering or dispensing odours. The product works by providing powerful micronutrients to the “good” bacteria that do not create smells. These bacteria grow and starve out the “bad” bacteria that create odours.
This product has successfully been used in large landfills and wastewater facilities to dispose of smells and is now available to residential markets in a spray bottle. And it can be used more than just your green bin including diaper pails, sports gear, and latrines. In fact, the product is so effective that UNICEF is working with SciCorp to develop a similar product that will be used to reduce the spread of diseases that from open defecation.
The WM Odour Disposer can be found at Canadian Tire, Lowe's and Home Depot.
