Got kids? Or plans for kids in the future? If so, the recent announcement of a brand new state of the art elementary school in Oakville may incite you to reconsider your real estate options so your kids can attend. After all, kids are the most important investment.
Homes in neighbourhoods with good schools are also a good investment from a money side. There is higher demand for homes in neighbourhoods with high quality schools. And Oakville overall has a good reputation for high quality schools.
The new school, located in the West Oakville Neighbourhood between Third and Fourth Line will take some of the pressure off St. Joseph and St. James Catholic Schools. The new school will replace the existing building on the St. Joseph School property which is more than 50 years old.
The funding was approved by the Ontario government earlier this week and the news was announced by the Ontario Minister of Education Mitzie Hunter with Oakville and Halton Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Kevin Flynn and Indira Naidoo-Harris.
Construction will begin in 2018 and will be completed sometime in 2018. The school will be state of the art and provide enhanced opportunities for special programming and extracurricular activities. Facilities will also be available for an alternative and adult education centre.
