Each year, MoneySense comes out with a ranking of Canadian cities and towns. This year, 417 cities and towns across the country were compared. MoneySense changed their methodology this year a bit and users can customize their ranking based on the variables that are most important to you.

The variables include robust economy, high wealth and incomes, home affordability, taxes, transit friendly, health accessibility, crime, weather, and arts & community.

Out of Ontario municipalities, Oakville ranked fourth and 15 overall in Canada. But Oakville came in first for the best place to raise kids. This speaks volumes of the quality of schools in Oakville. Access to quality education is one of the most important decisions for home buyers who have kids or plan to have kids.

A good percentage of Oakville’s population is school-age. More than 55% of households in Oakville have children living in them and 20% of Oakville’s population is younger than 15.

The entire Region of Halton has quite a good track record for ranking high on the MoneySense list. Halton Hills and Burlington also made it in the top ten list this year.
